Seniors Building Independence
Seniors building independence is what SBI can do for you. Do you have a hobby? What Will You Retire TO? I don't mean how much, I mean what. What will you do with your time? "It's time to really retire when what you are retiring TO is more interesting and compelling than what you are retiring FROM." Are you a gifted knitter that likes to make all those throws for family members at Christmas? Do you like to sew and make quilts? Are you a man that likes to tinker and rebuild old things or maybe new ones? Do you have a hobby that you have waited to expand on until you retired? Remember; "Retirement"... Time To Do Life Your Way Have you decided to supplement your income by maybe becoming a fix-it-man? Have you always waited to find the time to start painting as a hobby or a renovation? Been waiting to travel and find all the newest or most famous golf courses? Why do I ask? Well if you have a desire to do any of these things, or something else, don't you think you will want to boast or brag about it to your family or friends or anyone that will listen, for that matter. And how much of an investment would you have in any of these?
I have a sewing machine that I bought from Sears, about twenty-five years ago. I still use it. But at the time, it was a couple of hundred dollars. And all the notations and all that fabric, I have collected, as a senior.
Tools! How much have you got invested in your tools? Yarn, knitting needles, patterns, paint and paintbrushes, canvases, easels, golf clubs, golf balls, and so on and so on.... We all know that a hobby costs money. But, how many hobbies can return the favor? Any and all of them, can. How? Let me tell you, how. What ever your Passion or Hobby is, you are an expert about it. Why? Because you’ve done it. Pass that information on and you could soon be monetizing from it without even trying. And once again, "It's time to really retire when what you are retiring TO is more interesting and compelling than what you are retiring FROM." When I recently was politely asked to retire by the auto industry, that you now are part owner of, I thought to myself, what if this gets a whole lot worse? And it has. My pension hangs in the balance and most of our 401k's have took a hit. What am I going to do at my age? Who wants to hire a senior? I have spent the past thirty years being told that; "They might close the doors, if we don't give in. Let them ship some of our jobs overseas!" and later it was called competing in a "Global Market". Ha! I cringe every time I hear that term.
Anyway, I asked myself, am I going to go to my grave worrying about my future as I have all my adult life? Is there anything out there that no one can take from me? Yep, they can't take my thoughts, my desires, and my opinions. Retired? Bored and limited by your income? What if I could market my thoughts and opinions? So I started combing the internet for a home based business. You hear about them all the time. And some of them will make you millions, over night! Ah, I didn't fall off the apple cart, yesterday!!! REMEMBER, If it sounds too good to be true.....
So it was a long and disappointing search. It cost me some money, too. What made it the hardest was I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for. I didn't want to sell anything; I didn't want to have inventory lying around. Right after I retired, my friend and I invested in some children clothing and hit the e-bay scene. Well, we now have totes full of children clothes and found out that doing e-bay was not for us as seniors. Seniors Beating Insecurities Seniors Being Inventive Seniors Bringing Ingenuity Seniors Boosting Integrity Seniors Bright Inspiration Seniors Beyond Innovation I can't remember if SBI found me or I found SBI. And this time I am not referring to Seniors Building Idependence. I am referring to Site Build It. But what a way to have Seniors Building Idependence. Please let me explain. Site Build It or (SBI) is a program that takes you by the hand and helps you build a web site. Yes, you have to buy it. But if you wanted to build a web site, where would you begin? And why would you want one anyway? Well, maybe to supplement your income?
What if you build a business that is tax deductible, requires no inventory (unless you want one), can become something that you lay awake at night and get excited about, and can be sold or passed on to a beneficiary. And no one can take it from you (like Uncle Sam) yet you can deduct some of those high energy bills you have, at the end of the year. I just don't know where to start to tell you all the wonderful benefits and possibilities. And you can do it from anywhere around the globe, and at any age. Yes, even as a senior! Awesome!!!
SBI has so many tools and a wonderful ten day Action Guide (you choose to read or use the tutorials), I am a 'Show Me' kind of Gal. I started mine in March and I am still on day six. You stop from time to time, to do what they say, before you move on. I'm still on my first twenty to thirty pages. If you look at my site, you'll see that I am only on the foundation of my "building". If you click on the sandy beach picture above, you will see what I use with the female voice.
What would your site be about? SBI helps you find your NITCH! And for the price of that "PUTTER" or SEWING MACHINE" or "ART SUPPLIES", you can build a web site to show the world your favorite paintings, quilts, or favorite golf trip. And you can sell them if you want. Why? Because right now, at the very moment you are reading this, someone on this planet is using the Web to search for information that you know.
I had no idea what I wanted my site to be about, but SBI will help you with that. I spent the week thinking about "What I was passionate about". SBI told me to think about something that was in high demand yet low supply. Well, at first I thought that it would be hard to do. Then, low and behold, it came to me in my AARP magazine. I combined my thoughts, opinions, and research with what I learned from an article in AARP. The need for Senior Citizens Helpers is a big one. Why? Baby boomers! We are living independently and even longer with just a little outside help. That’s where I come in. 
I made up a few fliers and passed them out in a retirement condo community. WOW! I soon had calls coming in for help with little things that are not so easy for elders to do. Just trim some small bushes, plant a couple of small plants, and one lady needed a ride to our nearest big city (Indianapolis) for an appointment at the heart doctor.
I have also tried to encourage seniors to learn how to use a computer so they can easily stay in touch with family, especially with ones out of town. I have tried to develop my site towards helping seniors to be less intimidated by the internet yet to be very aware of scams and such. SBI is pure magic! It has helped me all along the way. My goal is to become an affiliate to senior products and therefore have no inventory and also to help in my community by helping others.
