A Senior Loosing Weight?

A Senior Loosing Weight? Yes and I'm doing it with with patience and over time. I want to invite you to keep track with me on how I'm doing. If you read my A Senior Stops Smoking? page, you'll see that a lot of my weight gain was indeed a result of my need to replace the cigarette in my mouth.

I'm not going to tell you what weight loss program works. There have been so many kinds over the years, only to be beaten out by a new one from time to time. And I have used different diets at different times, as I have always had to control my weight.

And as I have said in several pages before, I am not going to say, "If I can do it, You can do it!", because we seniors are all different. I do believe that it is a big help to have someone to do it with. But I am not so fortunate this time so I am on my own. Sort of!

You see, three things I have learned from my journey from being a smoker and learning to build a website with my SBI. It is to slow down, take it a day at a time, and know that the rewards will be great. So I now plan to use this philosophy with my weight loss program. And again, You can't cheat to achieve.

This will be an on going process so be sure to bookmark this page and return to see how I'm doing. I started this program a short while back. I will show you my continued, and yes honest, results at least once a month.


Sunfood Nutrition

"You are what you eat" is a concept that has been known in every culture and civilization throughout history.

I am not doing a lot of exercise, just yet, as I went a little overboard the last time I dieted and became burned out and frustrated when I reached a plateau. I think a lot of weight loss went to muscle and therefore I did not feel successful as quick as I wanted. I do think that exercise is important and plan on starting a routine as soon as I reach a mid-way target weight.

If you are interested in what I am following right now, it is the Atkins Diet. The reason I like this diet is because they offer the diet bars and drinks. So that gets me through when I get that sweet tooth. I'm not normally a sweet eater but sense I quit smoking, I now think of sweets more often. What senior doesn't?

But I get past it with the day-break Atkins bars.


I have found that with this time of year and in this part of the country, I have been able to find such wonderful fresh vegetables and fresh beef. I only wish I could find better fresh sea food, as it is one of my favorites. But as for now, I enjoy watching the cooking channel and trying to incorporate some of their ideas into something I can have.

And my wonderful fresh herb garden I told you about, on my Lets plant a seed page, has made a huge difference. Even when I have the grand kids over, they like what I cook.

Living in the CORN built of America and not eating it in the peek of the season is hard, but oh the tomatoes! They don't get any better anywhere else. I have them with every meal. A little secret too, they keep me regular.

So, my main staples?

I started on August 25th at 193 lbs. Now that is sure a lot for 5foot 2inches.

But as of today, September 18th, I am at 180.5lbs. So I will keep you posted, and wish me luck! Just sit back and watch me go!

Update: Today is October 09th, and I am at 176.lbs. Yeah!!!

Update: Today is January 31st, and I am proud to report that I am at 159.5 pounds. Honest! I have not been around due to family issues but I am back now for more support.

Update: Today is February 21st, and I am at 155 pounds. I have changed my diet from Atkins to Nutrisystem and like it a lot better. I can enjoy fruits and grains and I cook a lot of my own things the way I want them. I have also added some exercise that has helped.

Update: Today is March 22nd and I am at a wonderful 148lbs. WOW!

Update: Today is May 14th and I am still very much at it. I am now down to 136lbs! Yes, honest. It has truly been a remarkable journey but what a fulfilling one. I just want to remind all seniors out there, that yes You can still look great and healthy!!! My goal is 125lbs and I think with my determination, I will get there real soon. When I reach that goal, I will give You some wonderful pictures and You won't believe your eyes!
